Day of the Dead
Day of the Dead by IGT
Zombies seem to be the in thing as far as staple horror characters go at the moment, with The Walking Dead continuing to be one of the top rated shows on television around the world. The vampires and werewolves seem to have had their time in the sun – figuratively of course – for now and it’s risen, mindless people that are the order of the day and IGT is at the forefront. If you’re squeamish by nature then you’ve got nothing to worry about on Day of Dead as it’s not exactly a horror slot in the typical sense. It actually looks more like a Tim Burton movie brought to the reels and has more in common with the Mexican holiday than trying to give anyone a fright!
The celebratory nature of the game could not be clearer given that all of the dead people on the board appear to be in a party mood, doing things that we never expected to be possible of the dead such as dancing and playing trumpets. The colourful coffins are a cheery wild card to say the least and those wilds, along with pretty much every other symbol, are particularly valuable given that this is a Multiway Xtra game, meaning 720 ways to win and returns that can be paid for symbol combinations heading in either direction.
Day of the Dead Free Spins
Multiway Xtra may well be a great reason to play a slot, but if there was no feature round then the corpses on the symbols would probably be having more fun than you are! Fortunately, IGT isn’t the kind of developer to leave the action solely on the main board and landing five of the yellow bonus symbols on separate reels on a standard spin will trigger the free spins bonus. There are only eight spins on offer and no multiplier but the best thing about these spins is that it isn’t all that difficult to trigger further batches of eight. This is made possible by the continuing appearance of the yellow bonus symbol and also its blue equivalent which is unique to the feature round. Land five or more of either on a free spin and you’ll instantly have eight more spins added to your total.
Functionally, Day of the Dead is pretty similar to the likes of Siberian Storm and Sumatran Storm but if you want to enjoy the same kind of action with a wholly different atmosphere and one of the most enjoyable themes around, this is definitely the game for you. It’s available in both real money and free play options, with the latter on offer right here on this page.
