Drive – Multiplier Mayhem
Drive – Multiplier Mayhem NetEnt Game
The last new games to reach the screens of PLG in February 2016 comes from NetEnt and is delivered in the form of Drive – Multiplier Mayhem. It is testament to the quality of NetEnt as a brand that some developers would have dropped a massive bomb like Guns n’ Roses early in the year and then coasted for a while before launching another new game. Even then, the follow-up could have been lacklustre and nobody would have batted an eye, but that’s not how our favourite Swedish developer operates. Instead, we’re handed a game that received its fair share of hype and manages to live up to it once again thanks to some great new features that are unlike anything we’ve encountered before.
Base Action on the Drive
If Guns n’ Roses wasn’t going to push the boat out when it came to base gameplay then the chances are that Drive wouldn’t get the honour either and that is most definitely the case. Indeed, there are even fewer win lines in effect here, coming in at fifteen, and the control scheme will be familiar to any NetEnt fan. The graphics warrant a special mention as the symbols look great, as do the animations. However, looking past the visuals, there isn’t much by way of unusual additions to the base game – except for the reason for the game being called Multiplier Mayhem!
It is all down to the way in which the wild cards interact with the rest of the symbols. On a basic level, they look like speedometers, but the further along the board they are, the higher the speed will be. Specifically, the wilds cards gain a multiplier based on the reel that they land on – two times on reel two, three times on reel three and so on. It’s possible to land multiple wilds at the same time and they will work together if they both contribute to the same win. Therefore, a prize that makes use of a wild on reels two and four will be multiplied by eight, and one that uses wilds on reels two, three and four at the same time will be worth 24 times as much as usual!
The Race… of Free Spins
The main event on Drive – Multiplier Mayhem is the free spins bonus round and landing a scatter on the second, third and fourth reels at the same time will trigger it. This is where the game really comes into its own by way of graphics thanks to an excellent set of bonus races that can make the round even more lucrative. Nitro symbols are added to the board and landing them will contribute to a meter. Make it through a specific checkpoint and you’ll be involved in a race with one of the featured characters. Win and you’ll be awarded more spins and additional frozen wilds for a great all-round result!
Drive – Multiplier Mayhem Touch
This game is, hands down, one of the best ways to make use of the latest displays on mobile devices. Experience the sumptuous visuals on an iPad or similar device and you might never want to go back to your desktop or laptop! Gameplay and features wise, it is all exactly the same on mobile as it is online too and that’s definitely a good thing.
This may not be the biggest name NetEnt release of 2016 so far, but it certainly holds its own in the face of stiff competition. Drive – Multiplier Mayhem definitely has plenty going for it and we’ve really enjoyed it so far. We think you will too, so be sure to check it out above!
