Michael Jackson – King of Pop
Michael Jackson – King of Pop Game by Bally
He may have had more than his fair share of controversy throughout his career, but one thing that most people can agree on is that Michael Jackson was and continues to be one of the most influential musicians of all time. When you’re that famous, the chances are that games developers will be more than happy to stump up the cash for the official licence and that has been the case here with Bally Technologies, who have taken the chance on working their magic to do justice to one of the most glittering careers in music.
If you’ve been playing Bally games for a while then you’ll know that they always deliver in terms of gameplay, often with a particularly impressive base game accompanied by some truly exciting features. It is a line-up that rarely disappoints although they have kicked things off here on the smaller side of things with just 25 lines in play. The visuals, while more than passable, are actually not all that exciting, particularly given the quality of the likes of Guns n’ Roses by NetEnt, also released this year. In fairness, this game did put in a shift of a few years on land prior to its online release so we suppose we can’t expect it to be truly cutting edge in this department. Either way, iconic hats, gloves and other items are joined by playing card symbols and the diamond encrusted wild card, ensuring that things keep ticking over throughout the base game.
Two Wild Base Game Features
The wild action is not confined to the symbol itself, as it is also possible for players to randomly trigger Moonwalk and stacked wilds. The first sees Michael moonwalking across the screen, leaving between two and five wilds in various board positions as he does so. These wilds are particularly impressive as they also come with a built in two times multiplier. The stacked wilds do not have such a multiplier, but they can be just as useful as they will see two reels turning completely wild – no questions asked.
The Wheel of Fortune
If there’s one thing that developers like Bally enjoy, it is a wheel based bonus game and that is exactly what players will enter when they land a bonus symbol within one position of the centre of reels two, three or four. The wheel contains cash, multipliers and two free spins rounds. The first two are pretty self-explanatory, but the free spins can add another level of excitement to proceedings. The first round consists of Beat It free spins, where ten spins are awarded and any wild cards that land on the board will freeze in place, remaining there for the rest of the round. Alternatively, players may pick up Smooth Criminal free spins, where just five spins are awarded. This is compensated for by the fact that either one or two reels will be completely wild on each of those spins, just like the stacked wilds from the base game but this time guaranteed.
Michael Jackson – King of Pop for Mobile Devices
This may not be the most advanced game out there right now, but the fandom for the King of Pop ensures that it is guaranteed to be popular. Unlike some of its land based contemporaries, Bally has always been more than happy to ensure that its mobile selection is every bit as exciting as its online one and that has been cemented by the fact that Michael Jackson – King of Pop has been released not only at online casinos but also at mobile casinos on the same day.
As noted, we have to give this game a bit of a pass as it has been around longer than players may think. If it was brand new, we’d be slightly disappointed by the lack of themed action and other potential improvements but as things stand, it remains a high quality game that both Bally and Michael Jackson fans are sure to enjoy. Check it out now right here on the page, or find it on both the online and mobile versions of your favourite Bally partnered casino.
