Nordic Heroes IGT Game

As you’ll know if you’ve been playing here at PLG for a while, we’ve always had a soft spot for online games of the reel based variety that share plenty in common with video games. The great news for any reader that shares that view is that we don’t think we’ve ever come closer to finding the perfect game of that kind than right here on IGT’s Nordic Heroes. It definitely looks the part and boasts some of the most inspired visuals that the developer has ever created – and when IGT is the name in the frame, that’s certainly something of a compliment. It doesn’t shy away from layering on the gameplay and features either and we can preface this review by saying that all kinds of players are almost certainly in for a massive treat!

Thirty Lines, Wilds and Multipliers

Base game action has never been something that IGT has had difficulty delivering and they’ve continued the trend of fun here on Nordic Heroes. As noted, the symbols all look great and there are plenty of opportunities to line them all up throughout thanks to the presence of thirty lines. The wild is pretty simple in execution, filling in for all symbols except for the main scatter, and there’s also a randomly triggered multiplier bonus. A multiplier reel will spin and a boost of between two and thirty times the standard prize value will be applied to all wins, with the larger multiplier rates coming into play as the character rises in level.

Levels and the Battle Bonus

You may well be wondering what we mean by levelling up and that’s where one of the major video game influences comes into play. If you’re familiar with role playing games, then you’ll be right at home here as you can rise through the ranks to unlock an additional character, new areas and extra skills that will help during the Battle Bonus. That is the main feature on Nordic Heroes and is triggered whenever the player manages to land a scatter on reels one, three and five at the same time. Players are then treated to a bonus that is part free spins round, part fight with a cast of monsters. Essentially, it is the closest that players can get to a World of Warcraft dungeon on the reels! The number of spins is unlimited, with the length of the round dictated by how well you do in the battles. Beating monsters will see more wilds added on subsequent spins and killing three in a row will award Victory Spins, which throw in even more wilds together with multipliers.

When your character is ultimately defeated, the free spins are over and your prizes and experience points are awarded. The game remembers your progress and will allow for that experience to be put to good use as part of future feature activations.

Nordic Heroes for Mobile

This game is one of the most advanced that we have ever seen and so it was a bit of a shock to see that it made its way onto mobile platforms at exactly the same time as the online release. What’s more, there is absolutely nothing missing when playing on your phone or tablet compared to playing online, unlike on other advanced games like NetEnt’s Guns n’ Roses where part of the soundtrack is sacrificed. Getting the most out of this game can turn into a bit of a long grind, so the flexibility of playing on a mobile device can certainly be worthy of consideration!

This game is definitely one of the most interesting that we’ve ever played and, as noted, if you like a convergence between traditional action and video game styles then this could well be as close as you’ve ever managed to get. Everything from the graphics to the features are truly top notch and this is yet another masterpiece from IGT. Check out everything it has to offer right here on this page to begin your epic quest!
