Subtopia by NetEnt
Subtopia is a name that may well be familiar to NetEnt fans already as it has been around for a while. However, today marks the game’s debut here at Playlogic Games and at risk of spoiling the rest of the review, it is fair to say that the game is every bit as fun to play now as it ever has been. One of the more notable things about the title, at least at first glance is that it is living proof that Steam Tower wasn’t NetEnt’s first foray into the steampunk genre, with our lead explorer here on the game also fitting into that category. The premise is that we’re joining him as he travels the depths and whether or not he has treasure on his mind, that’s definitely what we’re most interested in here.
Twenty win lines are the order of the day on the game and there’s a comprehensive choice of bet levels and coin bets to suit any style of play, with the caveat that bigger bets will of course lead to bigger wins. However, you don’t need to go overboard with the stakes in order to aim for a tasty return thanks to the ever present multiplier meter.
Wilds and Multiplier Meters
That multiplier meter is always visible on the screen and a value is randomly chosen during each spin. It could land on one, which does of course effectively mean no multiplier on the current spin, but could just as easily land on two, three or five, which will increase the prize value by that multiple. It works nicely in conjunction with the wild cards on the board which come along regularly and can be crucial in making the most of a good multiplier hit.
Subtopia Free Spins
Three or more scatters on a single spin will trigger the free spins bonus round and you can never be sure of just how many you’ll receive. This is all based on a slight modification to the multiplier meter which now displays two, four and six times multipliers, together with a skull and crossbones. You’ll benefit from the minimum multiplier being two times, but could also be caught out by the crossbones as the free spins round can continue indefinitely – or at least until your meter lands on the evil symbol.
The game may be quite in depth thanks to the multiplier meters, but it remains pretty simple at its core and it is therefore ideally suited to mobile play too. Subtopia Touch can be found at all of the great gaming brands that offer the online version and we’ve featured them in the sidebar of the review at the top of the page. Even if you’d prefer to play with no deposit and get some practice in first, you’re certainly in the right place as you can enjoy all the great action of Subtopia with no deposit or download right here on this page.
